New Copper Gutter Rain Chains from Spirit Winds
|Rain chains guide the flow of water gently to the ground and are a wonderful alternative to downspouts They have been used in Japan for hundreds of years. Years ago, people used rain chains to guide the water into large barrels to catch the water from the roof for household purposes and gardening. Rain chains also sound great and add the essential element of feng shui to the home.
The Japanese often put a ceramic or stoneware pot beneath the chain, filled with water, so that when it rains, the water drips from the chain into the pot, creating a beautiful display. You can make a square out of redwood beneath the chains and fill it with small pebbles. If it is damp regularly, moss will grow between the pebbles. You can also place a single paver tile or a few medium size stones under the chain to break the fall of the water. Your local nursery may have a large, low bowl or saucer that will make a good catch basin.
Our rain chains are all made of thick copper and/or brass of the highest industry standard. Every chain comes with a gutter attachment piece. They are very easy to install. In general, cup styles will carry more water than link chains without splashing.
Standard lengths are indicated (typically 8 or 8 1/2 feet). You can add on more length after clicking “Add to Cart.”

|Gutter Installation Kit
Not necessary most of the time. However, some gutters have a hole only, no flange, and water might swirl out of the hole, missing the rain chain. Some gutters may also have an opening that is very large and water will miss the chain at the top. The Installation Kit directs the water onto (or into) the chain.
